Civil engineering is one of the oldest, most stable, and most versatile branches of engineering. Civil engineers play a critical role in the planning, design, construction, supervision, maintenance, operation, preservation, and management of the buildings and infrastructure systems that form the foundation of modern life. The profession, particularly in the fields of structural engineering and construction and infrastructure management, continues to be in high demand in the Israeli economy, and especially in the northern region. As population growth and urban development accelerate, the need for skilled civil engineers grows alongside the increasing demand to plan, design, construct, and inhabit buildings for a wide range of uses. In parallel, there is a constant need to maintain and expand the infrastructure systems that support these developments, making civil engineering a profession of enduring relevance and opportunity.
The work of a civil engineer encompasses the engineering, operational, and construction aspects of both private and public infrastructure. This includes civil and industrial buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, ports, railways, and other essential systems. In addition to these technical responsibilities, civil engineers are expected to drive innovation within the fields of engineering and construction, while also retaining the leadership skills necessary to manage and execute complex engineering projects.
The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) program in Civil Engineering at Kinneret Academic College will prepare students to engage in the diverse range of fields outlined above. As part of their studies, students will have the opportunity to choose between two specialization tracks:
- The Structural Engineering track is designed to develop engineers with strong analytical skills, specializing in structural design. Graduates of this track will be equipped to pursue career opportunities in both the private and public sectors. In the private sector, engineering design and consulting firms across various disciplines, or serve as planning managers in construction management companies. In the public sector, opportunities include roles in regulatory bodies, the office of the chief engineer, standards institutes, and more.
- The Construction and Infrastructure Management track is designed to train engineers with strong managerial and leadership skills, enabling them to lead and oversee complex engineering projects. Graduates of this track will be prepared for a variety of managerial roles in both the private and public sectors. These roles include engineering project management in the planning and/or execution stages (either on behalf of the client or the contractor), project management during the initiation phase on behalf of the client, as well as positions in supervision, quality assurance, and control.
With the establishment of the new department, we are actively working to obtain the necessary approval from the Engineers Registry at the Ministry of Labor, ensuring that upon completion of your studies, you will be eligible to register as an engineer in the track you have chosen.
I invite you to join us in the Civil Engineering Department at Kinneret Academic College, where you will study with a view of the Kinneret, in a warm and supportive environment that fosters both academic and professional growth.
