Teaching Advancement as an Ongoing Learning
Process
ExacExactly one year ago I joined the College as Head of the
Communication Department and Director of the Center for

Instructional Development. I felt the weight of responsibility involved,
and thought about effective ways to successfully address the
new challenges. I figured that this would be a year of learning and
acclimatization that I would leverage in subsequent years. Learning
about my department, getting to know the college administration,
the rules and norms, and gradually formulating my vision for the
Center of Instructional Development and Department for Teaching

Advancement. A gradual process in all aspects that would create a
solid foundation for the future. So I thought.

I also thought I would be able divide my focus throughout the year.
Focus on my Department of Communication during the semesters, and
