Kinneret College Hosts Project "Agriculture Crossing Borders"

Delegation of Agriculture Students from Nigeria Arrives for a Year of Study at the Kinneret College and with Local Agricultural Industry in the Jordan Valley

This one of a kind program was planned with the cooperation of Nigerian ambassadors in Israel and Israeli ambassadors in Nigeria. In this program, 50 students have arrived for a period of study and training for a year.

This program is most certainly a bright spot amidst the current efforts for divestment from Israel across the world. These students study in one of the top three universities in Nigeria: Yula University.

On Wednesday, July 21 a welcoming ceremony took place at the Kinneret College with special guest Mr. Leviev Tarif of the Ministry of the Interior in Tiberias and the heads of the local authorities.

The students will be staying 11 months at Kibbutz Shaar HaGolan. During this time they will be studying and training at various locations in the local agriculture industry. One day a week, they will also be attending classes at the Kinneret College.

This project was initiated by the Kinneret College and other partners such as: International Agriculture Guidance Center of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture, Foreign Ministry, the Israeli Ambassador in Abuja, the Nigerian Ambassador in Tel Aviv, Yula University, Jordan Valley Regional Council, Springs Valley Regional Council and other local regional councils, food processing factories, water industries, and local greenhouses focusing on dates, bananas, fisheries, chicken houses, fruits and vegetables.
